With businesses gearing up for stage 1 of Ontario’s reopening, the Canadian Federation of Independent Business says it’s not happening quickly enough.
The group released a survey showing two-thirds of small businesses say this reopening plan will drive Ontario further behind the rest of the country.
That compares with businesses surveyed in other provinces showing only one third of businesses in B.C. and 23% in Quebec saying they feel their provinces are moving too slowly.
The long suffering restaurant and bar industry will get to return to business serving customers for outdoor eating drinking, under restrictions.
But the CFIB wants the government to allow businesses like hair salons and barbers to reopen in stage 1 on Friday. They also want some capacity for fitness centres and add limited capacity for indoor dining.
