Almost 75 percent of adult Toronto residents have received at least one vaccine dose and Mayor John Tory says now the focus now is second doses.

“The push for people to get their second dose is on, for the first time this week, we’ve seen our city run clinics go from about two thirds first dose and one third second dose to now 50/50 and we expect that strong shift to second doses to continue.”

If you had AstraZeneca for the first dose and want it for the second, you have to get it at a participating pharmacy as the city is only giving Moderna and Pfizer.

The city is reaching out to everyone who booked Moderna appointments to ensure they’re 18 and older and a reminder you cannot choose vaccines at city-run clinics.

Medical Officer of Health Dr. Eileen DeVilla is worried the Delta variant poses a big risk to those not fully immunized especially older people.

There are 384 new cases of COVID-19 in Ontario Wednesday and 12 more deaths linked to the virus.

Premier Doug Ford says Ontario administered more than 11.7 million doses.
