Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber says he`s willing to be arrested if the government doesn’t lift COVID restrictions so he can fully open his UK theatres.
The 73-year-old’s decision to withdraw his production of Cinderella out of a government run pilot program has left government officials baffled and bemused.
In a statement, Webber said he made it clear that he’d only participate if others were involved and the rest of the theatre industry was treated equally.
hE previously warned he may have to sell his six West End venues if the government does not relax its restrictions as set out in its roadmap for England.
The theatre industry took a financial hit from the pandemic and only now, the U-K is only set lift some restrictions.
