She was known as the spirited soprano with a radiant voice.
Gianna Rolandi, who was married to Toronto Symphony Orchestra conductor emeritus Andrew Davis and who made her mark at the New York City Opera and the Lyric Opera of Chicago, has died.
The American soprano’s death was announced by the Lyric Opera where she’d earlier been the director of the company’s training program.
Rolandi made her debut at the New York City Opera in 1975.
No cause was specified.
