Premier Doug Ford says Canada Day should be a time for reflection   in light of the discovery of unmarked graves at residential schools sites.

“I think it’s time for Ontarians to reflect on what has happened to the First Nations communities in the past for decades and it’s an absolute tragedy and my heart breaks for their communities,” said Ford.

Ford points to the $10M it’s spending to help search other school sites for unmarked graves.

While speaking in Muskoka to announce his government is investing $16M toward a new multi-use community centre in Bracebridge, Ford was asked if Step Three of the reopening can be bumped up amid falling COVID-19 cases and ramped up vaccinations.

“The only few things that aren’t open are indoor dining, which is going to happen, and outside of the casinos, strip joints, they’re the only things not open.”

Ford quipped that he cannot just snap his fingers to get it done and reminds people to be patient.
