Imagine if at the end of “Gone With the Wind” after Rhett said, “Frankly my dear I don’t give a damn”…
Scarlet had responded, “Rhett! Rhett! You’ll come back. You’ll come back. I know you will!”
That was the actual alternate ending planned for the 1939 classic film which starred Vivian Leigh as Scarlet O’Hara and Clark Gable as Rhett Butler.
Instead, it finished with, “After all, tomorrow is another day.”
Now, the shooting script complete with that alternate ending, sheathed in a leather cover, is going on the block when Heritage Auctions conducts its Entertainment & Music Memorabilia Sale July 16th to the 18th
The starting bid for the script is $10,000.
