We’re learning that Ontario colleges and universities may fully reopen this September with no capacity limits for classes or physical distancing requirements for students.

A Toronto Star report quotes a provincial government memo as saying face masks will still be required indoors, adding that post secondary schools should hold vaccine clinics and offer rapid, asymptomatic COVID testing while continuing to promote good hygiene and maintain additional cleaning measures.

The memo is said to have been sent to institutions Friday and is the first glimpse at what college and university life will look like come the new school year.

Anyone coming to a Seneca College campus after Sept. 7, 2021, “for in-person teaching, learning and working” will need to be vaccinated.

It also comes as Seneca College has decided that anyone involved in in-person learning on campus this fall must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The plan for return of in-person learning for elementary and secondary students is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
