Justin Trudeau delivered opening remarks at a national summit on antisemitism in Ottawa.
The prime minister says good intentions are not enough.
His government announced earlier that 149 projects worth $6.4-million have been recommended for development under the security infrastructure program.

”This is the largest investment for a given year in the history of the program,” said the prime minister.

And it will enhance the security of many synagogues, Jewish schools and community institutions across the country.”
Trudeau adds in an ideal world, there would be no need for a security infrastructure program.
As the only Jewish leader of a federal political party, and just the second since Confederation, Annamie Paul says the representation of Jewish people in Canadian politics is ”virtually non-existent”.
”I can tell you from my own painful experience that antisemitism is a very real part and regular part of my life.”
The words of the embattled Green Party leader, who also shared some of her experiences on Zoomer Radio’s ”Fight Back” with Libby Znaimer.
”Anyone who goes online on any of these major social media platforms, almost on any given day, will find some form of antisemitic comments that have been posted there related to me.”
Paul says perhaps she’s the biggest target right now, but is quick to point out ”this is something that all Jewish politicians experience across the political spectrum.”
And yet Paul was not invited to take part in the summit on anti-semitism.
The Trudeau Liberals host a national summit on Islamophobia Thursday.
The summits follow a spike in hatred and racist incidents targeting both communities.
