One of the best ever says he won’t be performing in venues where concert goers have to be fully vaccinated. However, fully vaccinated people won’t be turned away from an Eric Clapton show.
Clapton was reacting to U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson saying proof of vaccination must be shown at clubs and venues from September on.
The 76-year old music legend says he felt “honour bound” to make a statement because of a severe reaction to the AstraZeneca vaccine he suffered in May.
Experts have long stressed that the benefits of vaccination outweigh the risks for the vast majority of people, but some will experience mild to moderate symptoms after being vaccinated.
Clapton’s next U.K. show is scheduled for May of next year at London’s Royal Albert Hall; a venue that says people may be asked to show their COVID status ahead of an event.
Clapton has eight concerts scheduled in September in the U.S. and vaccine proof is currently not required at most American music venues.
