Unvaccinated employees of University Health Network will soon have to test negative for COVID before showing up for work.
The hospital network that includes Toronto General, Toronto Western and Princess Margaret Cancer Centre hopes to have the new policy in effect by August 9th that requires all full and part time and casual staff to disclose their vaccine status.
Those who don’t must take a rapid at-home COVID test and report the result at least 48 hours before coming to work.
These employees will also have to take an education session about vaccination unless they provide a medical reason not being vaccinated.
UHN spokesperson Gillian Howard says about nine-in-ten of all employees are vaccinated.
As of July 12, 750 home test kits had been distributed.
