The COVID-19 vaccine roll out in Toronto is about to hit another impressive milestone, with the overall rate of eligible fully vaccinated residents approaching 70 percent.

But several hard hit neighbourhoods continue to lag behind in many cases with double digit differences.

The lowest double vaccination rate for Toronto residents 12 and over is in northwest Toronto (Old Rexdale, Mount Olive-Silverstone-Jamestown, and Kingsview Village-The Westway) at about 49 or 50 percent.

The Thorncliffe Park and Flemingdon Park areas are also at the lower end with a double vaccination rate of 56 or 57 percent.

Conversely, neighbourhoods with the highest double vaccination rates are those in some of the city’s most affluent areas (Port Union, Kingsway South and Leaside-Bennington) with around 75 or 76 percent.

Interestingly, vaccination rates by Toronto neighbourhood mirror the pattern seen during the height of all three waves in which COVID-19 was disproportionately hitting the city’s most vulnerable areas.
