Citing fraud and other issues, the Ford government continues to reject vaccination certificates despite growing calls for them.

In Collingwood to announce $15M to modernize Collingwood General and Marine Hospital, Health Minister Christine Elliott says a vaccine passport – much like the old red and white OHIP health cards now being phased out – are vulnerable to fraud.

“So I think there’s a lot of work that still needs to be done on this issue, but in the meantime, people do have their proof of vaccination in the receipt they received after the second vaccine dose.”

But it’s these paper receipts that the Ontario Chamber of Commerce says can be easily replicated.Elliott says it’s up to businesses to determine whether they want to see proof of vaccination from employees.

Manitoba already has started issuing Vaccine Passports, and Quebec will outline it’s new vaccine certificate program on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said that he’ll let each province decide on the issue of domestic vaccination certificates/passports.
