Fully immunized residents considered close contacts of someone who’s tested positive won’t have to isolate, unless they develop symptoms or are directed to do so by local public health.
This is part of updated guidance from the Ford government on managing outbreaks, including in schools.
The province now says fully vaccinated, high-risk contacts of positive or likely cases do not have to isolate or be dismissed from classes unless they display symptoms.
Vaccinated individuals with symptoms, who receive a negative test result, can return to school if their symptoms improve over 24-hours.
Unvaccinated high-risk contacts of positive or likely cases, need to isolate for 10-days, and it’s recommended they take a test seven-days into their isolation.
The government says household members of those who are close contacts of positive cases must abide by similar rules.
