B.C. says anyone working in long term care and assisted living homes must be vaccinated or be getting vaccinated in the next few months.
Dr. Bonnie Henry, the province’s health officer, announced the new measures Thursday afternoon.
She says any unvaccinated staff will have to wear masks and be tested until they get their shots. They have a deadline of October 12th to be fully vaccinated.
Here in Ontario, the province has resisted calls for mandatory vaccinations for those working in long term care homes.
Health minister Christine Elliott says workers are encouraged to get vaccinations but there are enough measures in place to keep workers and residents safe.
