Service on the Union-Pearson Express ramps up later this month in anticipation of increased ridership to and from Canada’s largest airport.
A Metrolinx statement says starting August 23rd, service of 30 minute travel times will be boosted throughout the day.
On weekdays, the first trip from Pearson to Union will depart at 5:40am and will run every thirty minutes until the last trip at 10:40pm.
On the weekend, trains will begin at 6:40am from Pearson to Union and the last trip will be 10:40pm.
Also on Saturday and Sunday, three early morning trips will be added in both directions, including westbound from Union at 6:30am, 7:30am, and 8:30am, and eastbound from Pearson at 7:10am, 8:10am, and 9:10am.
UP Express service was reduced last year following a significant dip in ridership due to the pandemic.
International travel is expected to pick up as more Canadians become fully immunized against COVID-19 and on Wednesday, the governing federal Liberals confirmed that they will soon issue vaccine passports to Canadian residents for the purposes of travel outside of the country.
