The next phase of the COVID-19 vaccine roll out in the U.S. is expected soon.

American public health experts are reportedly ready to recommend COVID-19 vaccine boosters for all Americans, regardless of age, eight months after they received their second dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

An announcement could come as early as this week, with doses beginning to be administered widely once the Food and Drug Administration formally approves the vaccine boosters which would ensure lasting protection against the new coronavirus as the Delta variant spreads rapidly across the U.S.

The first boosters, made by Pfizer, are likely to go to nursing home residents and healthcare workers, followed by other older people were were first to receive COVID vaccinations when they began late last year.

Last week, boosters were recommended in the U.S. for people with weakened immune systems, following research from Toronto’s University Health Network which suggests a third dose is the best way to increase protection in organ transplant recipients.
