The scientific director of Ontario’s COVID-19 Science Advisory Table is defending the conduct of table members, after Doctor David Fisman announced his resignation from the table publicly on social media.

Fisman, an epidemiologist at University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health, says he has been increasingly uncomfortable with the degree to which political considerations appear to be driving outputs from the table.

He also claims the science table has modelling work that projects a grim fall.

But Doctor Peter Juni says the team works tirelessly to provide accurate data and what Fisman is talking about is probably a projection by an independent scientist presented to the table three weeks ago, “which this scientist is not even part of the modelling consensus table…and there was nothing that we withheld from the public.”

At the same time, Dr. Juni projects Ontario could have 1300 daily COVID-19 infections in three weeks if cases continue to increase at the current rate.

He also says it’s not known when the next modelling data will be released, but he and his colleagues are working on it.

Dr. Juni joins guest host Jane Brown Tuesday on Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer at about 12:30pm.
