There is some reassurance for parents of students who attend Toronto public schools.

TDSB trustees have voted unanimously in favour of a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy.

During Wednesday night’s board meeting, they decided to develop a procedure which would require all TDSB staff, trustees and visitors to disclose and provide proof of vaccination status and to be fully vaccinated to help protect the health and safety of both staff and students.

Trustees also voted on a process to endorse that COVID-19 vaccinations be added to the list of compulsory vaccinations for all eligible students.

Two weeks from today, it’s back to classrooms for students.

Many educators are worried, especially with rising COVID cases fueled by the Delta variant.

“We’ve got a watered down plan with more people in the ICU, and more cases in the unvaccinated than we had last year, and yet here we are, going back into schools in a worse starting position than we were last year,” warned Bio-statistician Ryan Imgrund on Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with guest host Jane Brown.

He also advises that cafeterias should not be open for students.

“I would not be sending my child back to school in a school environment where they are socializing with 500 or 600 kids, unmasked, not physically distanced, in a school cafeteria,” Imgrund continued, “That’s extremely irresponsible for any school board to allow their cafeterias to be open in a situation we’re in right now. It will lead to COVID-19 spread, it will lead to another shutdown of our schools here in Ontario.”

Imgrund is certain schools will need to be closed again if the current provincial policy stays in place but he says Education Minister Stephen Lecce still has time to revise the plan.
