COVID-19 modelling shows two starkly different paths for the virus in Ontario.
The low end of the model suggests we could already be nearing the peak of the fourth wave of the virus. But the worst case scenario has the province getting upwards of 9,000 new cases a day with the more contagious Delta variant circulating among the unvaccinated.
It should be noted that the province has never matched the worst case scenario of previous models.
Experts warn that 85% of those eligible need to be vaccinated to prevent lockdowns this fall. Ontario has started to level off with about 76% of eligible people vaccinated.
The modelling was released after the province announced the new vaccine certificate will be mandatory for many non-essential businesses starting September 22.
