Teachers and staff in the Toronto District School Board who are not vaccinated by November 1st could lose their jobs.
The board has published its staff vaccination policy, which takes a harder line than the minimum guidelines set by the province.
The rules apply to employees, trustees and others who come in direct contact with staff and students in the workplace.
TDSB spokesman Ryan Bird says the policy is not a one-size-fits-all.
“I don’t think it automatically equals no vaccination means termination, it can’t be that simple.”
Bird says each case will be reviewed individually adding there are human rights and medical disability exemptions that can be put in place. Bird says if the employee chooses not to get vaccinated, rapid testing will kick in leading up to November 1st.
The board says 83 per cent of its staff are currently vaccinated against the virus.
