Amid speculation children aged 5-11 will soon be eligible for COVID vaccination, a new survey finds half of parents are ready to have their youngsters roll up their sleeves.
While about 15% of those with children in that age group in Ontario, B.C. and Atlantic Canada would not immunize their kids, that number doubles to nearly 30% in Quebec, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Pfizer recently submitted clinical data suggesting its vaccine is safe for that age group.
Meanwhile, with talk of a potential booster shot for all adults, 62% say they would take it immediately if it were offered, while 20% would eventually but would not be in any rush. So far a third shot’s been offered for health-care workers, long-term care residents and at-risk individuals.
Nearly two-in-five Canadians (37%) say they do not expect the country to ever return to a pre-COVID normal.
That’s double the number who felt that way last December.
