A new documentary about Tom Petty debuts in theaters around the world today on what would have been the singer/songwriter’s 71st birthday.

“Tom Petty, Somewhere You’ll Feel Free: The Making of Wildflowers” captures the late music legend at his creative peak.

Last year, Petty’s family finally released the “Wildflowers & All the Rest” box set full out outtakes, intimate home demos and live recordings

Petty is considered one of the greatest songwriters of his generation.

He died in 2017 from an accidental overdose.
