It’s good news for Toronto restaurant owners and those who enjoy dining al fresco.
Members of the Mayor John Tory’s executive committee have approved a plan to make CafeTO permanent and waive permit fees for the program next year.
The report now goes to full Toronto City Council on November 9th and 10th.
The CafeTO program began during the pandemic last year to provide outdoor dining space to local restaurants and bars in order to reduce transmission of the virus.
This year, CafeTO supported more than 1200 restaurants with expanded outdoor dining .
