Zoomers who were teenagers or young adults in the late 50s and early 60s will certainly remember this.

“Clap Your Hands,” was a hit for the first Canadian group to totally write and record their music in Canada.

The Beau-Marks were originally from Montreal, but they were huge in Toronto; entertaining at the old Le Coq Dor Tavern and recording at Quality Studios.

“Clap you Hands” topped the charts in Canada, England, Australia and New Zealand and led to appearances on American Band Stand and the Ed Sullivan Show.

Ray Hutchinson, who played lead guitar and sang in the band, has died in Peterborough of complications due to COPD.

Ray Hutchinson was 82.
