Ontario’s seven-day running average of COVID-19 cases is back over 500.

The province is reporting 454 new cases on Wednesday. That’s up from 441 Tuesday and 379 a week ago.

The latest daily case count has pushed the provincial seven-day average to 502 cases, up from 492 on Tuesday.

The last time the seven-day average was at or above 500 cases was on October 13 when it was right at 500.

Almost half of the new cases are in the unvaccinated. Below is the breakdown of Wednesday’s newly diagnosed cases:

-211 in the unvaccinated;
-11 in people who have received one dose;
-205 in fully vaccinated;
-27 with an unknown vaccination status.

On Tuesday, health minister Christine Elliott said the province wasn’t going to reserve course from the reopening and an assumed winter rise in cases was expected when they came out with their reopening plan.
