After receiving one of the highest awards that can be given by Queen Elizabeth II, Elton John thanked Prince Charles for the honour.
Following the ceremony at Windsor Castle, the 74-year-old singer-songwriter became a member of the exclusive Order of Companions of Honour.
Sharing photos on Instagram, he called it ”an incredible honour.”
Introduced in 1917 by the Queen’s grandfather King George V, the award recognizes those who have made ”a major contribution to the arts, science, medicine, or government lasting over a long period of time.”
Canadian author Margaret Atwood is among current members.
Knighted by the Queen in 1998, Sir Elton John joined the Companions of Honour in the Queen’s honours list in 2019 for his services to music and charity.
