A state of emergency has been declared in B.C. following a storm that left parts of the province under water and debris. Thousands have been forced out of their homes and at least one person has died. Premier John Horgan says it’s expected more fatalities will be confirmed in the coming days.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has offered federal resources now that B.C. has formally requested help from the Canadian Armed Forces. Defence Minister Anita Anand says military personnel will be ready to help B-C residents. Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan have also offered support.
The emergency order will preserve basic access to services and supplies for communities across the province.
