The drama inside Canada’s Conservative party continues.

Conservative senators have chosen to keep expelled Senator Denise Batters in their group, despite party leader Erin O’Toole’s decision Tuesday to kick her out of the national caucus after she challenged his leadership.

The decision to keep Batters in their caucus suggests Conservative senators are defying O’Toole, who warned on Wednesday that anyone supporting her attempt to force an early confidence vote on his leadership would be booted out of the national caucus for not being a team player.

Meantime, Erin O’Toole wrapped up two days of meetings with his caucus plotting out their priorities ahead of Parliament’s return.

But he’s still not revealing whether all 119 Conservative MPs will be allowed to enter Monday when the COVID vaccine mandate takes effect for the House of Commons.

“You will see us following the rules as we always have and it’s up to all Canadians to get vaccinated and have any questions they have about it answered,” O’Toole told reporters.

Conservatives remain the outlier of federal parties, so far refusing to confirm how many of their members are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
