Ontario is reporting 964 new cases of COVID-19.
It’s the highest single-day new case increase since May 30. Omicron, the latest COVID-19 variant that’s now been detected on several continents, still hasn’t been confirmed in Canada.
One more death from the virus is also being reported.
The seven-day running average now stands at 761, up from 729 on Saturday.
A week ago, the seven-day average stood at 645.
Health minister Christine Elliott says 519 of the new cases are in people who aren’t fully vaccinated against the virus. 49 more cases are in those whose vaccination status is unknown.
There are now 6,484 known active cases in the province. That’s the most since September 5th.
