Beginning next week, all travellers going to the U.S. will be required to show evidence of a negative test no later than the day before departure.
The previous period was 72-hours.
”I’m announcing today that all inbound international travellers must test within one-day of departure, regardless of their vaccination status or nationality,” said President Joe Biden.
As it stands now, the White House is leaving the Canada-U.S. land border out of its plans, meaning any Canadians driving south won’t have to submit test results.
Also as of now, Americans are exempt from new Canada rules requiring all other international air travellers to get a test upon arrival at the airport and self-isolate while awaiting results.
Meanwhile, Biden will extend the rule requiring passengers on planes, trains and buses to wear face masks through March 18.
