The latest rich man in space is a Japanese billionaire.

46-year old fashion tycoon Yusaku Maezawa and his assistant have blasted off with a Russian Cosmonaut for a 12 day stay at the International Space station.

The trio lifted off this morning from a launch facility in Kazakhstan.

Maezawa is Russia’s the first paying space tourist since 2009.  The last one was the co-founder of Canada’s Cirque du Soleil Guy Laliberte.
