It is considered the highlight of the European cultural calendar and despite many theatres still shuttered by the pandemic, the show went on last night at Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Italy.

The new season opened last night with the gala premiere of Verdi’s “Macbeth” to a fully seated house.

Italian baritone Luca Salsi sang the title role, Russian soprano Anna Netrebko played the conniving Lady Macbeth which is on stage at La Scala through December 29th
