Just like last year, COVID-19 continues to cause havoc on the London Stage with the cancellation of the first major production to be put on ice for an extended period of time.

Theatre legend Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber admits he’s devastated to have to halt “Cinderella” for seven weeks because of the Omicron variant but he says the West End show will return as soon as this wave is licked.

The return is currently scheduled for February 9th.

The opening of “Cinderella” was also disrupted earlier this year as many theatres across the U.K. have been forced to cancel performances.

The British government is making an extra $50-million available to its Culture Recovery Fund to help English venues and arts organizations between now and March.
