Quebec’s Premier has announced some tough new restrictions for people in his province in a stepped-up fight against the Omicron variant.
Francois Legault says beginning Boxing Day, Sunday, gatherings inside homes will be limited to six people or two-family bubbles.
Restaurants in Quebec will also have to limit groups at tables to six people or two families.
As for gatherings around Christmas, “we’re keeping the limit for 10 people at Christmas, but I ask you to please cancel your Christmas parties if you can. If you choose to go ahead, please gather only on the 24th or on the 25th,” stressed Legault.
Earlier this week, bars, gyms and schools in Quebec were abruptly closed.
Legault says Quebec has seen an “exponential” increase in COVID cases this past week.
Public health reported over 6300 new daily cases yesterday, and expect to break that record again with another 9000 cases today.
Here in Ontario, the 50 percent capacity restriction remains in effect for all retail, restaurants, gyms, theatres and sports venues.
The official guidance for gatherings remains at 10 inside and 25 outside, but Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kieran Moore asked us the other day to please hold any Christmas get-togethers outside or virtually.
