It’s New Year’s Eve, usually a night of celebration as we see off the old year and welcome the new.

However, with more COVID restrictions in place as we head into year three of the pandemic, tonight will be different.

Most liquor and beer stores will close by 6 pm and will remain closed New Year’s Day as is normal.  What isn’t though, is bars and restaurants closing at 11 p.m.

Most grocery stores will close at 6 p.m. and reopen Sunday.  But, best to check ahead before heading out.

Some pharmacies will be open tomorrow but banks, government offices, libraries and the post office will not.

The TTC will operate on Sunday service and any routes that do not normally operate on Sunday will not operate on New Years Day.  GO Transit will operate its usual Saturday schedule.

There are some attractions, like the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Royal Ontario Museum, the CN Tower, the Science Centre and the Toronto Zoo that will be open but with reduced hours.
