If you’ve never been to Amsterdam and viewed Rembrandt’s iconic painting “The Night Watch,” there is good news.
The painting has been recreated into a supersized museum photo that you can download in unsurpassed detail.
The Rijksmuseum, where the painting is displayed, has put its digital portal on line, with what it calls the “the most detailed photograph of any artwork,” ready for assessment by scientists and art lovers alike.
The move is expected to draw widespread interest especially since the Rijksmuseum is closed because of COVID measures.
It’s hoped that apart from showing the dazzling detail, this will help researchers restore the work and assess its aging process over time.
