Canada’s 102-year-old first lady of jazz is being celebrated with a commemorative stamp at a virtual event on Friday.
Canada Post says the Eleanor Collins stamp will pay tribute to the Edmonton native’s life and career as an artist, musician and mentor.
Collins began performing in the 1930s, and over the years worked with everyone from Dizzy Gillespie to Oscar Peterson.
In 1955 she became the first woman and first Black artist to headline her own national T-V series.
