Canadians are honouring Canada’s first Black M-P, cabinet minister and Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. Lincoln Alexander would have turned 100 today and is still touching hearts.
Federal Diversity Minister Ahmed Hussen says Alexander exemplified what it meant to be of service to others and broke down barriers to make Canada a better place for everyone.
The Minister also announced details about Black History Month.
“This year’s theme is February and forever, celebrating Black history today and everyday because Black history simply can’t be summed up in a month.”
Hussen says that theme reminds us to recognize the tremendous contributions of Black Canadians, like Lincoln Alexander, and their communities, all year long.
