Justin Trudeau revealed on social media he tested positive this morning, and that a second of his children has as well.
The prime minister has been in isolation since last Wednesday when he first revealed he had had a positive contact.
”It’s a big challenge that may family and I are facing,” said Trudeau speaking outdoors, where he was quickly added there’s nothing unusual or special about it.
”It’s a challenge too many Canadians and people around the world know all too well.”
The prime minister says he will remain in isolation and work remotely while he recovers.
Trudeau received his first two COVID-19 vaccine shots last year and got a booster earlier this month.
His wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, caught the virus in the early days of the pandemic in March 2020.
Late last December the prime minister announced he was testing regularly and self-monitoring after some members of his staff and security detail tested positive.
