Time’s up for Erin O’Toole.
Conservative MPs in a virtual, secret vote decided the party needs a new leader.
There are 119 caucus members, but chair Scott Reid did not vote, while 73 voted to replace O’Toole and 45 endorsed him.
MP John Williamson quickly tweeted that he’d like to be interim leader, promising to ensure a permanent one is elected in a ”fair and efficient contest.”
Williamson was a senior staff member in the office of former prime minister Stephen Harper.
The Tories will now choose an interim leader in a meeting scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
Erin O’Toole finished third in the 2017 party leadership race behind Andrew Scheer and Maxime Bernier, then beat Peter MacKay to take the top Tory job in August 2020.
