MILES DAVIS' EX-WIFE DIES AT 77

She was married to music legend Miles Davis and was a pioneering singer, model and songwriter of note in the 1960s and 70s.

Betty Davis died yesterday in her hometown of Homestead, Pennsylvania.  No cause was given.

Among others songs, she wrote “Uptown” for The Chambers Brothers.

It’s said she also influenced her then-husband Miles to blend jazz with contemporary sounds and she was sometimes referred to as “Madonna before Madonna.”
