Ontario is lifting a directive to allow previously cancelled or rescheduled surgeries to resume.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kieran Moore says the OMICRON peak is behind us. “We’re now in a position to lift Directive-2 to gradually and cautiously resume non emergent and non urgent surgeries and procedures in public hospitals,” said Dr. Moore at his weekly COVID-19 briefing.

Unlike other provinces lifting further restrictions, Dr. Moore says we’ll be wearing masks ‘a while longer’ and he’s planning for when proof of vaccination can be discontinued. But he adds the current timeline —Feb 21 and Mar 14th — could be moved.

Meantime, students are now allowed to take part in extra-curricular activities like music and sports in school.
