Leslie Parnas first gained success at a competition in Moscow in 1962. That earned him global renown and gave him a platform as a musical emissary.
He was renowned for his lyrical playing, was a teacher, a former principal cellist with the St. Louis Symphony and
and served as a juror for the Tchaikovsky competition.
Leslie Parnas has died of heart failure at a rehabilitation facility in Florida.
He was 90.
