Consumers and commuters a world away from Russia are being warned to brace for much high gas prices.
Dan McTeague, the president of Canadians for Affordable Energy, says Russia is the third largest oil producer and exporter in the world. Because of its war against Ukraine, he expects gas prices will likely hit historic highs in the coming days and months. He says they could shoot up by 30 cents a litre, putting gas prices in southern Ontario in the $1.90 a litre range.
Last night, the price for regular gas rose a cent a litre and is now selling at most GTA stations for just under $1.59 a litre.
