Ahead of the March 11th two year anniversary of the global pandemic, most of Ontario’s significant COVID-19 public health measures have come to an end.

As of March 1st, proof of COVID vaccination is no longer mandated for restaurants, gyms and movie theatres, but business owners are welcome to require it for their facilities if they wish.

And there are no longer restrictions on gathering sizes outdoors and indoors, including for nightclubs, and sports and concert venues.

“Still be cautious, this isn’t going to be the wild west. Be cautious. We aren’t through this yet. We see light at the end of the tunnel,” Premier Doug Ford told reporters on Monday.

As for Ontario’s mask mandate, Ford is indicating it could be another two weeks or so before it’s lifted, but the premier explained this will be decided based on the recommendation of Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kieran Moore.

COVID vaccine requirements for some sectors like long-term care and health care will remain in place for now.
