U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris is calling for an international war crimes investigation of Russia over the war against Ukraine and bombing of civilians.

Harris arrived in Warsaw on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters in Poland, Harris said the bombing of a maternity hospital in the port city of Mariupol on Wednesday can only be described as a war crime.

“A maternity hospital, a children’s hospital, where we have witnessed pregnant women who are there for care, who were taken out by an act of violence, unprovoked, unjustifed,” Harris told reporters.

Harris said, “absolutely there should be an investigation.”

City staff in Mariupol say three people were killed in the maternity hospital bombing, including a child, and at least 17 others were wounded.

Canada’s Prime Minister is also in Poland on Thursday, where he has met with that country’s prime minister to talk about the war against Ukraine and the refugee crisis.

“I want to start by saying thank you to you and to the Polish people for being so extraordinary in this terrible crisis, the way you have welcomed in people fleeing for their lives, fleeing for a better future has been just tremendous,” Justin Trudeau said in a joint news conference.

Most of the 2-million people who’ve fled Ukraine have arrived in Poland.
