He was first considered a classical guitar virtuoso during his teen years in Brazil.
Carlos Barbosa-Lima, who performed concerts all over the world that ranged from classical repertory to Brazilian music to Broadway, has died.
He is credited with expanding the instrument’s possibilities by bringing classical techniques and sensibilities to arrangements ranging from Gershwin and the Beatles. He also recorded some 50-albums of music.
Carlos Barbosa-Lima was 77.
