The average price of a Canadian home climbs to $816,720 – its highest level ever.
The Canadian Real Estate Association says that was 20% higher than a year and was the second-busiest February on record for sales; just behind the all-time high in 2021.
CREA says prospective homeowners should not expect any relief over the next couple of years.
It forecasts the average price will rise by 14.3% this year and a further 3.2% in 2023.
The realtors’ group says the average price can be misleading since it’s skewed by sales in place like Toronto and Vancouver.
Taking those cities out of the equation shaves over $178,000 off that price.
