Believe it or not (and this will make Zoomers of a certain vintage feel their age), it’s been 61 years since four mop top musicians from Liverpool, first appeared together at the Cavern Club.

By July of 1961, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr had a regular Wednesday night gig at the club and appeared there two or three times a week in addition to lunchtime sessions.

In all, they performed at the Cavern Club more than 300 times during the next couple of years before conquering the world and touching off the “British Invasion” of the 1960s.
