Northern Ontario-raised writer Liz Howard is among three Canadian finalists for the $65,000 dollar Griffin Poetry Prize.

The 2016 Griffin winner is nominated for Letters in a Bruised Cosmos about Western and Indigenous astrophysics to chart her family history.

Montreal’s David Bradford received a nod for his book about intergenerational trauma, called Dream of No One But Myself.

Tolu Oloruntoba of Vancouver is in the running for his novel The Junta of Happenstance that draws from his time as a physician to dissect disease.

The Griffin will award two winners $65,000 each at an online ceremony on June 15.
